Greetings!

As AES President and CEO, Andrés Gluski, recently said in his introduction to our Code of Conduct training, "The work we do is important. We improve lives by providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions. How we do our work is just as important. That's why we rely on our five shared AES Values to guide the decisions we make and how we interact with each other and our many stakeholders." The AES code of conduct details the ways in which we can apply each of our five Values in our everyday activities. To learn more about our code of conduct, read about the AES Values Guide.

CYBERSECURITY
Monthly Cybersecurity Message

Can you imagine turning on your computer only to find that you are unable to access your computer and any of your important files? Ransomware is an increasingly popular type of malware that infects your computer and holds files ransom by encrypting them. Hackers will only decrypt the files and allow you to regain access once you have paid a ransom. Similar to most malware, ransomware is often delivered via links and attachments contained in phishing emails. When reading email, consider some guidelines to help protect yourself and AES from falling victim to a sophisticated ransomware attack.

APEX project cuts commuting accidents at AES Eletropaulo in half

A study done by AES Eletropaulo, part of the SBU Brazil, showed that average commuting accidents at AES Eletropaulo went up by 46 percent from 2012 to 2014.  Accidents involved AES people who ride motorcycles commuting to and from work.

To address this safety issue, the Occupational Safety unit institutionalized a Six Sigma APEX to reduce commuting accidents. The project started in June 2015. To date, the program reduced the number of commuting accidents by 50 percent , a considerable success rate against the initial 25 percent reduction rate objective.  In addition to decreasing the accident rate, the program resulted in cost avoidance of approximately US $0.1M.
