Earlier today, AES held its 2016 Annual Meeting of Stockholders with AES Board of Directors, our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and SBU Presidents. Andrés Gluski, AES President and CEO provided an update on the company's strategy, performance and moving forward plans. Brian Miller gives talk on AES Values, Ethics and Compliance


Brian Miller, AES Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, was recently interviewed during an Ethisphere conference. In the interview, Brian highlighted our Values, Ethics and Compliance improvements. He also shared ways companies can strengthen their ethics assessments and reinforced why it's important for companies to place a sharper focus on values. You can view Brian's full interview online.

Connecting women in the energy industry around the world 


Our people are our energy at AES. Our workforce is comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures and disciplines. We want to develop our people to their fullest potential and ensure diversity across our leadership. The Hawthorn Club, an international network for women in the energy industry, shares a similar goal. The clubs' mission is to promote women in leadership roles within the energy sector and enable their professional growth.  AES joined the club in 2015 to help do just that.

Carla Tully recognized as Corporate  Social Responsibility leader in  Northern Ireland


AES UK & Ireland Market Business Leader (MBL), Carla Tully, was recognized by the Institute of Directors Northern Ireland as 2016 Director of the Year for Leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Carla has since been nominated for the UK finals, to be held in October 2016. The award sponsor explained that Carla has been selected for encouraging   our people to participate in our CSR efforts, and developing and establishing long-term relationships with partner organizations which have positioned AES UK & Ireland as a leader in CSR.

AES and IPL both finalists for 2016 Edison Award 


AES and Indianapolis Power & Light, part of the US SBU, both qualified as finalists for the 2016 Electric Institute's (EEI's) Edison Award, the electric power industry's most prestigious honor. There are eight US companies and two international electric companies recognized as finalists for this year. 
A technology in 2015 and IPL was nominated in the US category for forging regional and national partnerships to design and execute solar-generation and battery storage projects at the Indianapolis International Airport, the Maywood Solar Farm and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 89th annual Edison Award will be presented in June during the EEI Annual Convention in Chicago.

AES Huntington Beach recognized for its corporate citizenship program


AES Huntington Beach, part of the US SBU, was recognized in the Harbour Light Magazine for its corporate citizenship and partnerships with Bolsa Chica Conservancy (BCC), an organization dedicated to preserving the natural wetlands of Huntington Beach. Our Southland site was recognized in the publication for its support to BCC programs. Our efforts included purchasing tablets for educational needs of students, maintaining a fleet of restoration and service vehicles for the area and assisting in a solar panel design for use of the New Coastal Ecology Center. In 2014, AES leaders attending Spark14 and Huntington Beach site leader Weikko Wirta spent time with members of the BCC cleaning up the wetlands. 
ALWAYS ON FOR SAFETY
Vladimir Anatolyevich Yeremin is Always On for Safety 


Vladimir works at AES Sogrinsk CHP in Kazakhstan, a generation plant in the Europe SBU. He is a Technician with the Production Preparation Shop Department. During his 19 years with AES, he has shown a remarkable commitment to safety and always lives by his personal motto, "if you are in doubt, then stop and ask."
 
Effective Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) help Vladimir identify possible risks and hazards and the ways to prevent incidents. He uses JSAs as to plan ahead before starting any job. As part of his work routine, he conducts site safety inductions with the staff before starting any work activity.


Vladimir complies with the safety requirements at the plant and sets a great safety example for AES people and contractors. He understands that the only way to remain safe is to always being on for safety at work, at home and in the community.  Thank you, Vladimir Anatolyevich, for being Always On for Safety.
