LEADERSHIP MATTERS
Fatalities at AES Sul and OPGC II

There's nothing more important to us than safety and creating a work environment from which our people and our contractors can go home safely to their families and loved ones at the end of each work day. It is with great sadness that we share that didn't happen for an AES Sul electrician on Thursday, December 24 and a construction contractor at the OPGC II construction site on January 6. Today, we wanted to share what happened and the actions we're taking to prevent future incidents.
APEX
2015 Global APEX Competition

APEX, our continuous improvement program, embodies our Value of Strive for Excellence and enables us to improve and innovate based on data-driven decision making. Every year, we execute both small and large projects using APEX tools and methodologies that deliver significant revenue, savings and efficiencies, as well as provide learning opportunities for our people. Over the last decade, APEX has delivered US $1B in benefits to date. This week, 17 diverse projects from the SBUs participated in the 2015 Global APEX Competition following local and SBU-level competitions. The judges' panel included SBU Presidents, SBU COOs, SBU APEX Program Leaders and senior leaders in Arlington. These 17 projects have already delivered ~$20M in value in 2015 and 6 out of the 17 have expected benefits to exceed $10M each over five years. The projects competed in the following categories.
