LEADERSHIP MATTERS

2015 at the Speed of Light

AES matters because the energy you bring to millions of people improves their lives. In 2015, we challenged ourselves to move at the speed of light to better serve our customers and matter even more in our communities. Despite external challenges such as foreign currency fluctuations, low commodity prices and continuing hydrology issues, that's just what we did. We should all be proud of the many achievements we worked safely and quickly to accomplish together as we look back upon the year.
Monthly Safety Leadership Message

We put safety first in 2015. Our safety performance this year is one in which we should all take pride. For the first time since we put AESOnline in place 10 years ago, we had a month without a Lost Time Incident for our people, and our operational and construction contractors. This impressive milestone would not have been possible without the focus of our thousands of AES people and contractors to switch on and stay on for safety over the last year. It's all about preventing incidents and our efforts have been focused on being proactive.
CYBERSECURITY
Monthly Cybersecurity Message

Cybersecurity is an issue of safety that starts with our people -- we must put safety first when leveraging the power of the Internet both at work and at home. Last year we shared with you our AES Cyber Ninja Guide, which provides a comprehensive set of guidelines designed to educate, enable and empower our people and contractors to play an active role in protecting AES, ourselves and our families from the growing risks of being connected. With the start of a New Year, I am pleased to share with you version two of the AES Cyber Ninja Guide. This updated version contains additional guidelines based on AES' evolving cybersecurity posture and will better help to keep AES safe and secure. Similar to version one, version two of the AES Cyber Ninja Guide was prepared through a collaborative effort among all six SBUs and the Arlington team. In the weeks to come, version two will be translated into local languages and reinforced through training and awareness activities. If you have any questions pertaining to the guide, please contact your local Cybersecurity Team.

ALWAYS ON FOR SAFETY
Mohammad Abuhayja is Always On for Safety

Mohammad is a Shift Charge Engineer who works in Operations at AES Levant in Jordan. Mohammad joined AES Levant during the AES Amman East commissioning as a Control Room Shift Leader. He used his experience to spread AES' safety culture among the new hires and to help all other departments to put safety first. He is an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) role model for his peers and is a primary member of the AES Levant EHS Committee since this site started operations. As a committee member, he has made great efforts to set up the new EHS management systems. Some activities related to these efforts include preparing the confined spaces list, arranging the monthly fire extinguisher inspection, reviewing EMS and SMS procedures, participating in emergency mock drills, developing and maintaining the computerized Permit to Work system, working with the operations team to properly close all related work hazards and contributing to several APEX projects. Thank you Mohammad for being Always On for Safety by putting safety first and helping others do the same.
