AES builds relationships at energy storage conference
Earlier this month, AES Energy Storage and AES India participated in the third annual International Conference and Exhibition on Energy Storage and Microgrids in India by Energy Storage India. AES served as the title sponsor of the event attended by more than 700 energy industry professionals from more than 16 countries. Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Power, Coal and Renewable Energy, provided opening remarks, Chris Shelton, AES VP of New Energy Solutions, was a keynote speaker and Manish Kumar, AES Distributed Energy Managing Director also served as a speaker. Antonio Branco is Always On for Safety
Antonio Branco is a Work Planning and Execution Manager at AES Eletropaulo, a distribution company in Brazil, part of the Brazil SBU. As part of his commitment to safety, Antonio serves as a Safety Champion at Eletropaulo and works to ensure safe operations by making the right decisions during daily activities.
During a recent Safety Walk, Antonio witnessed a live-line work activity. The teams were working on the preliminary risk assessment (PRA) to start a job when he noticed a broken cable on one of the poles. "I immediately informed the team who was about to go onto the pole to start the activity," he said.

Setting Performance Measures

At AES, our success is measured in four categories: safety, financial, operational KPIs and enterprise KPIs. The KPIs within each category closely tie to our mission of safely providing affordable, reliable and sustainable energy solutions, as well as, our strategic objectives: providing shareholder return, being a great place to work and being a leader in sustainability. Everyone can play a role in meeting our performance measures and KPIs. As the saying goes, you can't manage what you don't measure. Constantly assessing and reassessing how you perform your duties each day can lead to improvements in our metrics. Talking about and sharing ideas can lead to improvements that can be rolled out more broadly. Using your stop work authority, keeping costs flat, replicating an APEX project, completing a 5X5 initiative or submitting a paper to the Innovation Congress are all ways to contribute.

2015 AES Innovation Congress Award Winners

AES partners with Tesla

AES has a history of innovation and providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions to our customers. In the spirit of innovation, AES has partnered with Tesla to continue transforming the electricity sector using battery energy storage. Tesla, known for its electric cars, will become a supplier of batteries to AES. With our recent acquisition of AES Distributed Energy, we can leverage the Tesla home battery product and the proven Advancion control system we developed for grid storage, across our distributed energy platform. After years of discussion with Tesla, we are pleased to now add Tesla as a battery supplier. By bringing the benefits of energy storage to more customers, we can continue our mission to improve lives.
