AES El Salvador commissions distributed energy project

AES El Salvador recently inaugurated the 2.5 MW AES Moncagua solar-energy generation project that uses more than eight thousand photovoltaic modules. The new project also includes a weather monitoring station that analyzes and confirms its appropriate operation. Additionally, AES Moncagua will reduce 2,700 tons of CO2 per year, thus protecting the environment. With projects like AES Moncagua, AES continues to provide energy security and environmental conservation in El Salvador.
AES UK & Ireland host energy storage seminar with UK government

At the request of UK government, AES co-hosted an energy storage seminar for government officials and commercial partners. Earlier this month in London, AES was joined by stakeholders from the Departments of Energy and Climate Change, Treasury and Business, alongside the System Operator and Regulator, to discuss accelerating the deployment of battery energy storage in Great Britain. The keynote speech was delivered by Senator Kevin de Leon, President pro Tempore of the California Senate, who shared his experience of California's path to energy storage leadership.

AES Kazakhstan launches workplace safety and energy efficiency project

Recently, AES Kazakhstan entered into a joint partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to conduct a sustainability project in east Kazakhstan focused on workplace safety and energy efficiency training. The project with GIZ was formed as part of the development partnerships with the private sector initiated on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with AES Kazakhstan. A signing ceremony was hosted by Serhiy Zuyev, AES Kazakhstan Market Business Leader, at AES Kazakhstan's Corporate Learning Center. Oleyssa Bogun, Project Coordinator said, "Capacity building and knowledge transfer is the key anchor of the project. During the program, our stakeholders benefit from learning about international best practices on workplace safety and energy efficiency." Our efforts in Kazakhstan mark our second project in partnership with GIZ. The project is part of our Global Stakeholder Management and Sustainability strategy to develop cost effective and sustainable high impact programs with global partners that also increase the legitimacy of our contributions, and allow for replication and implementation across the countries in which AES operates.

AES reveals Advancion 4 with first commercial deployment

Last week, we announced the first deployment of Advancion 4, the next generation of battery-based energy storage, at our Warrior Run facility in Cumberland, Maryland. Advancion is a complete, battery-based alternative to peaking power plants that provides a dependable, smart and cost-competitive means to modernize power systems. Advancion 4 is among the most proven energy storage platforms available, resulting from our more than eight years of commercial experience operating grid-connected energy storage.
INNOVATION AT AES
AES Brazil's innovation program yields results

AES Brazil's innovation program, i9, selects and manages innovation ideas that have the potential to generate a return on investment for AES. A few project prototypes have already been identified including a mobile app for electricians, an energy efficiency certification and an electric vehicle charging station among others. Thanks to the program, 450 people were trained and 18 people were successfully certified as program advocates. In addition, a new online portal, the Rede de Ideias, can be accessed by AES Brazil people on the intranet. The portal enables people to vote on ideas proposed. AES people can "invest" in an idea which helps ideas move forward through the pipeline. Keep the good ideas flowing, AES Brazil!
ALWAYS ON FOR SAFETY
Faustino Cabrera is Always On for Safety

Faustino is a Field Operator at AES Nejapa, a methane gas plant in El Salvador, part of the MCAC SBU, which generates energy from a local landfill. He has worked at AES for the last four years. When you are Always On, you prevent incidents from happening by doing things the right way. This is exactly what Faustino does. For example, he helped the plant in the implementation of changes required due to the modification of the Job Safety Analysis and Pre-Job Briefing Safety Standard. He double-checked the forms related to this standard to make sure that the new procedures were strictly followed. He uses his experience and knowledge to ensure things at the plant are done the right way, the safe way.
