AES Brazil receives workplace recognitions*

We aim to make AES the best energy company it can be by creating a workplace that enables our people to reach their potential, collaborate with others and contribute to our success while living our Values. To do this, we use external measurements such as Great Place to Work rankings to gauge the success of our workplace initiatives to energize our people. AES Sul, part of the Brazil SBU, was recently recognized for its successful workplace initiatives as the Great Place to Work Institute ranked them as a Great Place to Work. In addition to this important designation, the Brazilian magazine Época Negócios selected AES Brazil as the best company in the electrical sector in the Human Resources Practices category. The team also received second place in the Capacity of Innovation category. Congratulations to AES Sul and AES Brazil for energizing its people and receiving these designations.

CYBERSECURITY
Monthly Cybersecurity Message from Scott Goodhart

Would you share a toothbrush with a complete stranger? Probably not, as we are conditioned to protect ourselves from the risk of contracting an illness. You may be surprised to learn that connecting your device to public Wi-Fi networks poses a similar risk from a security perspective - the risk of contracting malware and exposing your personal and professional information. It is important to ensure that you are taking the proper security precautions before connecting to a public Wi-Fi network. Here are three tips to help protect personal and AES information:
INNOVATION
2015 AES Innovation Congress Award Winner Spotlight

Presenter and author Fatima Molina, along with co-authors Charles de Capdeville and Vinicius Barbosa, from the Brazil SBU, received third place in the Customer Solutions and Business Structure category with the project: Insurance Fits the Bill for a New Line of Business. To generate revenue through a new line of business, AES Serviços established a 15-year partnership with Metlife Seguros. Together, they now sell home, life and financial insurance to customers of AES Eletropaulo and AES Sul, using electricity bills to solicit and bill premiums. AES Serviços earns a commission for each insurance policy sold through the program. This model is replicable in other utilities companies that are able to form co-marketing partnerships with non-competing companies, using paper and email billing statements and/or inbound and outbound telemarketing. Although expanding into adjacent or ancillary lines of business often appears to be an attractive opportunity, the success of such projects is contingent on thorough market analysis in early stages, careful management of risks, and very detailed operating plans.
