Greetings!
Recent AES news coverage has included our earnings call and a recent designation by Fortune.com.
First, AES reported Adjusted EPS of $0.25 for the second quarter of 2015, a decrease of $0.03 from second quarter 2014, mainly due to the timing of planned maintenance at certain businesses, a stronger US dollar, lower demand and contracting strategy in Brazil, as well as the $0.02 net impact from the reversal of liabilities in Brazil and Europe. These negative impacts were largely offset by improved hydrology in Panama and Colombia, the company's capital allocations and a lower adjusted effective tax rate of 30% in 2015 versus 40% in 2014. A summary of the call is available here and the full, archived webcast is available here.
In addition, Fortune ranked us as one of the Fortune 500 companies with the fastest-growing profits. Click here to read the entire story.

AES Eletropaulo and AES Sul obtain ISO 55001 certification in Asset Management
Performance excellence is one of our pillars and means always finding the best way to do something. Two businesses in Brazil are working towards this goal by receiving the ISO 55001 certification in Asset Management. AES Eletropaulo and AES Sul, both part of the Brazil SBU, received ISO 55001 certification in Asset Management, which is required for sub-transmission systems and air distribution systems (and underground in the case of AES Eletropaulo) as well as the associated automation systems necessary for the supply of electricity within the concession area.

US Ambassador visits the microalgae project at AES Gener plant
AES Gener's Ventanas plant recently hosted Michael Hammer, US Ambassador in Chile, to learn more about the microalgae project developed by AES Gener's Costa Complex and Clean Energy teams. The Ambassador was accompanied by Fidel Venegas, Costa Complex Manager, Norberto Corredor, Shared Services Director, and Andrea Irarrázabal, Clean Energy Manager. Presentations were conducted on the main characteristics of the plant and the progress made by the project. Ambassador Michael noted that he "wanted to visit the plant and know about this technology to see its growth potential. This is what everyone wants to see in all the companies, that they develop new technology for the protection of the environment."

2015 AES Innovation Congress Award Winner Spotlight
Presenter and author Weikko Wirta at AES Southland, part of the US SBU, received second place in the Applied Technologies category with the project: Neural Networks Giving Power Plants the Brains To Make Boilers Run Better. Complex interactions and challenging conditions inside coal-fired, Circulating Fluid Bed (CFB) boilers make it difficult, if not impossible, to model and operate them using conventional software. The AES Southland Operations and Maintenance team dealt with this problem by developing sophisticated neural network software capable of managing many different variables at a time, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing wear and cutting emissions. Developing workable software required finding which factors were most important, collecting historical data and then "training" the neural network software to accomplish the desired tasks. With proper data collection, software "training" and implementation protocols, this neural networking tool can work for any solid fuel steam generation unit. For more information, review the project summary here or search for the full white paper on the Outlet.

Henry Bello Paniagua is Always On for Safety
Henry is a Predictive Maintenance Analyst for AES Andres and DPP, two plants in the Dominican Republic that are part of the MCAC SBU. AES Dominicana was awarded the 2014 Golden Hard Hat Award, which is the highest safety recognition in AES for an operational business or construction project. Henry believes that all occupational incidents are preventable. He takes advantage of the SafeStart program at AES Dominicana to prevent incidents. The SafeStart program presents four states (rushing, frustration, fatigue and complacency) that can lead people to critical errors (eyes and mind not on task, line-of-fire, and balance/traction/grip) which increase the risk of injury.
