Meet Peter Ohmer, 2014 AES Safety Excellence Award winner

The Safety Award for Excellence recognizes an individual or team that not only puts safety first, but makes a difference in how our business performs through their clear commitment to the safety of their people. Peter Ohmer, a supervisor with DP&L in the US SBU, was the deserving recipient of the award this year. Peter has developed safety training materials, written standards and successfully trained 48 people on safety. Even more importantly, he improved the local safety culture by convincing electricians to change work practices that had been in place for nearly 50 years.

ALWAYS ON FOR SAFETY

José Djalma da Silva is Always On for Safety

José Djalma da Silva, an Electrical System Technician at AES Eletropaulo in the Brazil SBU, is Always On for Safety at work and in his community. To demonstrate his commitment to safety, José shared an experience he had in his own neighborhood.

One day, while taking a walk, José observed two men working in front of a house with their scaffolding extremely close to the main power grid. José used his Stop Work Authority and asked them to move away from the grid because of the potential dangers.

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY

Founder Roger Sant shares history of AES

Throwback Thursday is a popular social media activity observed on Thursdays where people share an old photograph of themselves. When posting these images, the hastag #ThrowbackThursday or #TBT is used. We plan to build on this idea and highlight stories or images from our past and discuss how we've grown or improved. Have an image or idea for a future #ThrowbackThursday article? Send it to us at aescommunications@aes.com. The older, the better!
