Taking it to the next level in 2014
A Message from CEO Andrés Gluski

In 2014, we set out to take it to the next level and we did. AES made a lot of progress towards our long-term strategic objectives even while facing a second year of drought along the Eastern Pacific Rim, from California to Chile, which affected the results of some of our businesses, particularly Brazil and Panama. Nonetheless, we all should feel proud of our accomplishments: first and foremost, it was our safest year on record with no AES people fatalities. We did, unfortunately, have one contractor fatality and a number of serious incidents. While we must recognize the progress we've made thanks to our focus on being always on for safety, we have not reached our goal of an incident free workplace and we can't be satisfied until we achieve this objective.

Indian Power Partners: Leveraging partnerships to construct growth

Developing successful partnerships allows AES to reach our growth objectives by providing access to capital. In India, part of our Asia Strategic Business Unit (SBU), one of our strategic partners includes the Odisha government. The partnership makes up the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) which includes two coal fired units with a capacity of 420 MW. Recently, the team in India began construction on two new coal fired units adjacent to OPGC and referred to as OPGC II. OPGC II's units will add an additional 1,320 MW to the existing capacity of 420 MW.

COMMUNITY MATTERS

AES Amsterdam organizes holiday toy drive

The holiday season is here and for many children that means one thing: toys. However, the reality is 10% of children living in the Netherlands live in low-income families. To help make a difference and spread holiday cheer to children in need, AES people working in Amsterdam organized a toy drive. The Amsterdam Office, headquarters of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), collected new and used toys. The collected toys, including dolls, toy cars, art supplies, books, board games and jig saw puzzles, were donated to the Toy Bank in Amsterdam.
