Monthly CIO Cybersecurity Message from Elizabeth Hackenson

In this month's Cybersecurity Message, Elizabeth discusses the importance of using secure connections when connecting to the Internet. We have grown accustomed to easy Internet access at home, at work, and in public places such as restaurants, airports and hotels. While the option to connect is convenient, the utilization of public Wi-Fi networks also poses risks. When you connect to a public, insecure Wi-Fi network and conduct online activities through email or websites, it is very easy for hackers to intercept your user names, passwords, and other confidential information.
TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
AES Culture Pulse Survey

Over the last year, we've focused on turning the way we work into a competitive advantage. Across the company, our people have come together to discuss our strategy, each group's contribution to it and how we need to work together to accomplish our goals. It's important for us to measure how much progress we've made from last year. AES people in all six Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and in our Arlington office who are mid-level leaders have been asked to participate in AES' Culture Pulse Survey.

The US SBU is taking it to the next level

In late March, a group of leaders convened for "Spark 14: Taking It to the Next Level," a two-day session at the US SBU headquarters in Indianapolis. Their primary purpose was to evaluate the results of an AES-wide culture survey taken in the fall 2013 and begin the process of creating solutions to improve the culture in AES' U.S. businesses.
