AES Gener recognized as a Great Place to Work 

 

As part of our long-term strategy for success, AES strives to be recognized as a great place to work. AES Gener, part of the Andes Strategic Business Unit (SBU),  was recently recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute in Chile, becoming the only power generation company included in the rankings in the country for the second consecutive year. In 2014, AES Gener moved up four spots from 2013, to number 45. 

AES Energy Storage wins 2014 Project of the Year Award 


In October, AES Energy Storage was recognized during the North American Strategic Infrastructure Leadership Forum. AES Energy Storage won the New Infrastructure Project of the Year award for its project in California at the 6th North American Strategic Infrastructure Leadership Forum organized by CG/LA, in Washington, DC from October 28 through October 30.

AES Northern Ireland wins contract to help meet growing energy demands

 

AES Northern Ireland, part of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), has won a contract to provide additional capacity to meet a projected energy shortfall over the coming years. System Operator Northern Ireland (SONI), the firm who manages the reliability of the electricity system, awarded the contract to AES Northern Ireland.

Last month, we announced that AES was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America. How did we achieve this prestigious designation? It's from the work of AES people around the world executing on our mission of providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions in the markets you serve. DJSI also provided feedback on what we do well as a company. Our three strongest areas included Stakeholder Management, Antitrust Policy, and Risk and Crisis Management.

Taking it to the next level in EMEA


In 2014, we've been focused on taking our performance, and our company, to the next level. Across all our Strategic Business Units (SBUs), AES people have come together to discuss our strategy for long-term success, how each of us support our strategy, and the ways in which we work together to ensure we meet our goals and honor our commitments.In the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) SBU, nearly 600 AES people participated in 26 focus groups facilitated by the local HR and Senior Leadership Teams.

Whether he is making safety suggestions, reporting hazards and incidents, working with his peers to improve safety processes, or showing his unwavering willingness to use stop work authority, Anthony has established himself as a safety champion and a driving force behind the improvement of the site's safety culture.
