This week AES people around the world stopped work to focus on our first value, safety. Our people around the globe attend activities to help better understand how our theme, "Always On for Safety" can be implemented in daily lives, to keep us safe both on and off the job.

In this month's COO Safety Message, Andy discusses the importance of being Always On for Safety. He reminds us that putting safety first has to be a permanent mindset when we're on the job, we're with our families and loved ones at home and we're doing things in our communities. It's each of our responsibilities to be Always On for Safety.

As we strive to create a workplace free of incidents, it is important to recognize our people who make safety a permanent mindset. "I'm Always On" is a new program that celebrates our people who are Always On for Safety. We want to recognize their behaviors and inspire others to learn from them. Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting our first inductees to the Always On team, and how they are looking out for their coworkers, family and community by having safety as a permanent mindset.

As part of our strategy for long term success, AES strives to be recognized as a top quartile great place to work. AES Sul, part of the Brazil Strategic Business Unit (SBU) was recently included among the best places to launch a career in Brazil, for the second time in a row, according to Brazilian business publication, Você S/A. 
US SBU internal newsletter, The Current, wins three national awards 
 
The Current, a bi-monthly, internal newsletter from the US SBU recently won three 2014 Communicator Awards for internal communications. The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications. The program receives more than 6,000 entries from companies and agencies annually, making it one of the largest awards programs of its kind in the world.
