Last Tuesday, Andy Vesey, AES Chief Operating Officer, spoke at the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce's annual meeting in Dayton, Ohio. Andy talked about AES' $20 million investment in its advanced lithium ion battery array at its substation in Moraine, Ohio. In his speech, Andy encouraged and challenged Dayton businesses leaders to continue to do more and invest in the community by saying "If the Dayton Chamber continues to do its job- which is fostering an innovative, responsive business community, we will do our job as a corporate citizen, which is to continue to make investments in the community."

IPL receives approval for new 650 MW CCGT and natural gas conversion of 200 MW coal plant
Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) in the US Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has received approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) for its request for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN). The approval allows IPL to invest approximately $600 million into a new 650 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station near Martinsville, Indiana and $36 million to convert two units at the Harding Street Generation Station totaling 200 MW from coal to natural gas.
