Monthly COO Safety Message from Andy Vesey

In this month's message, Andy discusses AES' shared safety beliefs that are at the core of creating a workplace free of incidents. One of those beliefs is simply: All occupational incidents can be prevented. The danger of not fully being on board with this belief is that people don't feel in control of the consequences of the actions that they take. People believe that there's nothing that they can do to prevent an incident. That's exactly when people become complacent and incidents occur.

AES Brazil's Smart Grid program featured on national TV

Jornal Nacional is the leading television news show in Brazil. The show recently featured a piece on AES Eletropaulo's Smart Grid Project, the first initiative of its kind in Brazil. Jornal Nacional interviewed Sidney Simonaggio, VP of Sales and Operations at AES Eletropaulo, for further information about how the project works.

AES Parana implements new fogging technology

Leveraging our electricity platforms and knowledge to provide energy and infrastructure solutions in our markets of choice is critical to AES' long term success. The Andes Strategic Business Unit (SBU) recently installed a fogging system in the AES Parana combined cycle plant in Argentina. In its first day of operating the new system, the gas turbines increased their ourput by an additional 8 MWs.

The Golden Hard Hat Award honors a business that makes significant improvements in comparison to prior safety performance, develops and rolls out new safety techniques or practices that can apply to and benefit other AES businesses, or implements systematic proactive practices.

AES Indiana celebrates Earth Day with their local community

AES people working in Indiana represented IPL, a utility business in the US Strategic Business Unit (SBU), at Earth Day Indiana. Community members learned about IPL's energy-saving programs, received free CFL-shaped packets of wildflower seeds and registered for a chance on a battery powered lawn mower. At a separate event, our people in Indiana supported the annual Indy Free Tree event.
