AES to Modernize Alamitos Power Plant

For nearly 60 years, the Alamitos power plant has provided essential energy to Los Angeles and Orange counties in California. Recent changes to California environmental law require coastal power plants to significantly reduce the use of ocean water for cooling by 2020. This provides an opportunity for AES to ensure a cleaner, more reliable energy future by replacing the existing plant with a modern natural gas power plant that is more efficient and responsive to the state's electricity needs.
