Greetings!
AES is committed to safety in the workplace. Safety comes first for our people, our contractors, and the individuals in our communities. Each year we host Safety Day, an annual event where we all take time out of our regular activities to re-commit ourselves to safety and focus on what we can do to improve our safety performance. This year, Safety Day will be held May 28.

Monthly COO Safety Message from Andy Vesey
In this month's safety message Andy reminds us that our commitment to safety is ongoing. Even when we reach our goal of zero incidents, each and every AES person and contractor will need to maintain their safety mindset and dedication to looking out for their own safety and that of those around them. We'll also need to continue to look for better, safer ways to do things that continue to strengthen our safety culture at AES and put safety first for our people, our contractors and the communities we serve.

Values Award Winner: Arturo Matus
AES values are at the core of our operations and we believe these values set AES apart from others in our industry. Every day, our people and businesses around the world are guided by our five shared values Put Safety First, Act with Integrity, Honor Commitments, Strive for Excellence, and Have Fun Through Work. As a values-based company, we honor our people who excel at bringing our values from words to action. In 2013, we created a global Values Award to recognize an individual who goes above and beyond to exhibit the values in how they work. This year, Arturo Matus, from the Arlington office received the recognition.

Masinloc power plant now ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified
As part of AES Philippines' continuing commitment to sustainability, the Masinloc power plant facility received for Environmental Health and Safety certifications, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 respectively from the Bureau of Veritas for the first time on February 12, 2014. These certfications are a result of the successful audit of the Masinloc plant's Integrated Management Systems (IMS), which wasconducted last October 2013. The certificates of approval are effective for a period of three years from the date of issue. |
