This year, AES Puerto Rico, led by Ramiro Rivera, took first place for their project, Improve Boiler Reliability and Material Impact. From 2008 to 2012, AES Puerto Rico suffered losses as a result of seven Fluidized Bed Heat Exchangers (FBHE) terminal tube failures.

AES Hawaii receives Global Insurance recognition
In January 2013, AES Hawaii sustained a high voltage bushing flashover on a Generator Step Up (GSU) transformer. The leadership team at the plant acted swiftly in the investigation of the failure and determined the need to procure replacement bushings which were not available locally. The team promptly searched for availability of the particular bushings with the support of AES Strategic Equipment Holding Corp (ASEHC) and external suppliers.
