Recognizing Success: 2013 Global Award Winners
The energy that our people bring to what they do improves millions of lives by providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions in every market we serve. Every year, we honor our people who have an extraordinary impact on our company with AES' highest recognition, our Global Awards. This year's winners have had an impact on company, our people and our performance. These people were selected as winners for their creative thinking, hard work, leadership and results.

Announcing the 2013 APEX Global Award Winners
Each year, we recognize the best continuous improvement projects across our company through our APEX Global Awards Event. The 2013 APEX Awards were held February 3, 2014 in Huntington Beach, California. 15 projects lead by teams from all six of Strategic Business Units had the opportunity to present the method, tools and success of their project. Each project was evaluated on its strategic alignment, business impact, delivering benefits and ability to leverage and replicate.

AES Brazil Recognized for Its Training Program and Reliability
We strive to be the best in all that we do and to perform at world-class levels. Earlier this year, we shared an important recognition the Brazil legal team received. AES Brazil continues to be recognized for its world-class operations from external stakeholders. Recently our people working in Brazil were recognized for its highly competitive Trainee Program; and another award for its reliability for the citizens of São Paulo.

AES Maritza reaches 1 million man hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI)
Putting safety first is our highest priority. We recognize our businesses who achieve significant safety milestones in their operations. In December 2013, AES Maritza, part of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Strategic Business Unit reached 1 million man hours without an LTI.

IPL's Polar Plunge raises funds for Special Olympics
Having fun through work and supporting the communities in which we operate are at the core of AES. Our people working at Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL), a utility business in the US Strategic Business Unit, are bringing our values from words to action. IPL is partnering with Indiana Energy Association (IEA) members to sponsor a series of winter "Polar Plunges" across the state to raise money for Special Olympics Indiana.
