Supporting the Philippines in its relief efforts: A message from our COO

 

In this message to all AES people, our COO, Andy Vesey, shares how we are working diligently to assist the Philippines in is relief efforts. Our people are organizing programs to help get people the essentials they need for survival and working with government officials on we can best support their longer redevelopment needs. 

AES Philippines provides immediate aid in typhoon recovery needs

 

The recovery efforts currently underway in the Philippines is a process that will take time, resources and dedication from people, governments, businesses and organizations from around the globe- and AES is proud to be part of the recovery efforts. From day one, our team in the Philippines and Asia Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has been hard at work coordinating relief efforts to help those in need.

AES Eletropaulo Smart Grid Project Receives International Award

 

AES Eletropaulo, a utility business in the Brazil Strategic Business Unit (SBU), recently received an award for the Smart Grid project they implemented. The Smart Grid project is an innovative model for energy distribution, capable of automatically managing the distributor's power system.

New conversion project at Huntington Beach resulted in better energy reliability for Southern California

 
After Southern California Edison (SCE) confirmed the retirement of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), AES Huntington Beach, part of the US Strategic Business Unit (SBU), provided Southern California with a reliable supply of electricity and much needed voltage support after it completed construction of its new synchronous condensers.

Mong Duong 2 celebrates 6 million hours without a Lost Time Incident

 

The Mong Duong 2 Project, in our Asia Strategic Business Unit (SBU), is Vietnam's first and largest Build Operate Transfer ("BOT") coal-fired power plant project with a gross capacity of 1240 MW. Safety remains the top priority for the project.  As of November 2013, the Project has surpassed more than 6 million man hours without a Lost Time Incident.
