Greetings!
This month we've been featuring how AES people are continuously growing our competitive advantage by implementing innovative solutions to improve business operations, solve problems and better serve our customers. During the 2013 Congress on Innovation, Technical Excellence and Sustainable Practices our people in Kazakhstan took home first place in the people category for their project, "Improvement of Knowledge Acquisition and In-house Training of Employees"
The team recognized the lack of available training facilities in Eastern Kazakhstan. To address this issue, they opened the AES Kazakhstan Corporate Learning Center (CLC). The center includes training in safety, technical, and vocational skills. The CLC opened in 2010 with the mission to improve enterprise performance by developing professional competencies and skills relevant to modern international and national business standards.

Google invests in Silver Ridge Power's Mount Signal Solar project
Silver Ridge Power, LLC, formally AES Solar, and Google Inc. recently announced that Google will invest approximately $103 million in Silver Ridge Power's 265.7 MW Mount Signal Solar project. The project, also known as Imperial Valley Solar 1, is a utility-scale solar photovoltaic ("PV") generating plant under construction in Imperial County, California.

CAESS opens corporate health clinic
In September, CAESS, an AES El Salvador utility business, partnered with the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS) to open a corporate health clinic. The clinic, located at the company's technical headquarters, will provide quality health care services to the people of CAESS. The people working from CAESS will have convenient access to a variety of medical services including preventive care and medical consultations, lab exams and blood work, x-rays and EKGs, prescription drug services and referrals for specialized care.

IPL's window light display recognizes local organizations, events
The Indianapolis Power & Light Company building in the heart of downtown Indianapolis shines brightly every night with a computer-controlled light display consisting of thousands of energy-efficient, long-lasting bulbs. An integral part of the city's nightscape, the window light display is used frequently to recognize various Central Indiana events and community organizations with symbolic shapes and letters.
