When Mike Chilton, Vice President of Operations Support, needed to find new Managing Director for Global Environment Health and Safety (EHS), he sought someone who had the qualifications to lead AES beyond its 3-year Safety Action Plan and continue making progress towards achieving a world-class safety culture.
That someone turned out to be Ricardo Vega, who, as VP of Operations at AES El Salvador, not only led a workforce that constructed more than 800 miles of rural electrification projects, but did it while achieving two million man-hours with an incident.

One way to save time is to limit your choices. When you walk into your office and you are overwhelmed with emails, phone calls, meetings and dozens of people requests, stop and ask yourself: Am I being proactive or reactive? Establish routines that allow you to focus on what you need to do first.
