Greetings!

In March of this year, the AES Executive Leadership Team (ELT) recognized the importance of our businesses having the capability, the means and expertise to identify, understand and mitigate against threats and risks that continue to impact the way in which we do business and operate. The first step was to establish a Global Security Coordinator (GSC) role within the group. The second was to establish a Global Security Initiative outlining a working model designed to provide a framework for establishing a unified and companywide security strategy.

US SBU's Laurel Mountain tops energy service milestone with PJM

AES' Laurel Mountain facility has surpassed the 400,000 MWh mark of regulation service to the PJM Interconnection since the project began service last September. Laurel Mountain, a plant comprised of 98 MW of wind generation and 64 MW of integrated battery-based energy storage resource has entered its second year of continuous service supplying renewable energy and regulation service to Pennsylvania New Jersey Maryland Interconnection LLC (PJM).

Part of the US Strategic Business Unit (SBU), AES Laurel Mountain is among the first wind generation facilities to supply grid stability services to help maintain the reliability of the power grid. The storage portion of the project is the largest of its kind.

SAFETY IS A WAY OF LIFE

DP&L crews train Dayton Fire Department

on hazards of electrical equipment

Firefighters may know what to expect from a burning building, but they have limited experience when it comes to knowing the hazards they might face when responding to an emergency in an underground transformer vault or manhole containing high voltage electrical equipment.

That's why DP&L underground network crews recently spent several days showing Dayton fire crews around the downtown Dayton network system to explain the hazards they might find in DP&L manholes and transformer vaults. The team performs all maintenance and construction on the downtown network.
