BEHIND THE MWs
Maps of AES Locations

In the past weeks, we profiled each of AES' six Strategic Business Units (SBUs). All six SBU fact sheets have been posted in DocuShare.

Also available are PowerPoint maps of AES locations by SBU. Many thanks to our colleagues in Investor Relations for having prepared these maps.
SAFETY IS OUR WAY OF LIFE

AES Global Safety Stand Down

On March 11, a contractor from AES-SONEL in Cameroon was crushed when a pole he was climbing collapsed. Just two days later, an AES person from AES Sul in Brazil was electrocuted when he contacted the low voltage network. Both fatalities occurred during common, ordinary every day work tasks.

Since then, all AES businesses have conducted safety stand downs involving all AES people and at-risk contractors, in order to avoid any other fatalities. The focus of the stand downs was to engage and discuss the everyday work activities at each location that present significant injury potential and what we must do to ensure that our people identify and mitigate the risks; make commitments to address these every day risks and act on them; reinforce the use of the Stop Work Authority; and, reinforce that activities are only considered successful if they are completed safely.

TOOLS YOU CAN USE

Airport Travel Tip

AES people who travel by plane on a regular basis may want to tape a business card to the top of their laptop. This minimizes the chance of a mix-up at airport security and, perhaps, discourages anyone looking for a quick grab opportunity. Simply use a short piece of clear packing tape to afix the business card.

Many thanks to Robert Sims for sharing this useful travel safety tip.
