Feature Story: Safety Perception Survey

AES Spotlight
Greetings!

Putting safety first is one of our core values. Over the last three years, we put the 3-year Safety Action Plan in place and took action to improve safety for our people, contractors, visitors and the public at each AES location around the world. Our proactive efforts have made a difference - lost time incident (LTI) case rates decreased by 35% for AES people and by 70% for contractors as compared to our performance measures three years ago.

From February 25 through March 24, 2013, all AES people and contractors will have the opportunity to express their perception of AES' safety culture and performance by participating in an in-depth Safety Perception Survey (SPS). DuPont Sustainable Solutions will facilitate the SPS, as they did prior to the start of our 3-year Safety Action Plan in 2009. Your completed survey and your individual responses will be kept confidential, and will not be seen by AES. The survey will be available in eight languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Bulgarian, Vietnamese, Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian.

AES Tietê Invests in the Preservation of Its Assets and Receives the PAS-55 Certification

AES Tietê is the first company in Latin America to receive the PASS-55 certification for its management of physical assets. The purpose of PASS-55 is to certify that physical assets are efficiently managed. PASS-55 is granted by the Institute of Asset Management from London, United Kingdom.

This achievement is the result of efforts made at the company since 2010. A management policy was implemented, which connected the business' strategic goals to its asset base. Additionally, both the inventory and the evaluation of criticality were prepared, the maintenance plan was revised, the Operator Driven Reliability (ODR) was implemented and an information base was built, among other initiatives.
