AES Philippines Facility Produces World-class Welders
The Community-Based Livelihood and Skills Training Center of AES Philippines recently produced its first group of graduates and recognized them with Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) certificates. The new welders successfully passed a two-month training program on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). With their newly acquired skills, the 34 graduates are now part of the pool of skilled workers who will be a potential source of manpower both locally (in Masinloc) and abroad.
According to studies from the Tesda, the basic welding course is one of the most popular and most successful livelihood training seminars. With the program only requiring 240 hours of training, the AES Philippines' Training Center aims to provide quarterly classes. Students who finish the program will be given Tesda certifications as basic welders.
This is a great example of how AES businesses create sustainable programs that contribute to the social and economic development of their communities, particularly through education and training. |
