It’s not the energy of our turbines, wires or even our global presence that drive our results. It's the energy of our people and their dedication to our reason for being that make it all happen.

We are energizing AES and are pleased to introduce a new electronic newsletter, AES Spotlight, that will share stories and news about how we are energizing the company. AES Spotlight will provide timely, easy to read global news once a week straight into your Inbox. Our goal is to inform, inspire and engage AES people around the world. Each year, AES honors people who go above and beyond expectations to make a great impact on our company, our people and our results with our highest recognition, the AES Global Awards. A WIN EVERY WEEK: AES EL SALVADOR RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Recently, AES El Salvador was certified to ISO 9001 for the business’ customer service quality management system, ISO 14001 for our environmental management system and OHSAS 18001 for our safety and occupational health management system.

The Congress is scheduled to take place during the third quarter of 2013 near the headquarters of one of our U.S. utility businesses, IPL, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

SAFETY IS OUR WAY OF LIFE: 2012 SAFETY RESULTS
At AES, we want all of our people, AES people and contractors alike, to complete their work safely and return to their families at the end of each workday. Throughout AES, we are reducing our overall number of incidents, but some people are not going home each day. We have had a number of significant lost time injuries (LTIs) and also seven fatalities this year.

During 2012, the LTI rates dropped both for AES people and construction projects. Our proactive metrics, which include the number of safety walks, work activity observations and other local efforts, increased substantially, helping us reduce the overall number of incidents. We will continue focusing on proactive measures going forward because they are helping to keep us safe. In 2013, we will have a small course correction to help us all understand what we need to do to eliminate the most significant of our incidents. Together, we will achieve a world class safety culture and meet our ultimate goal of having an incident-free workplace.
