Marin Brown Bag Lunch Meeting

Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Larkspur Landing, 100 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur

Title:  Financial Planning for Same-Sex Couples Post-DOMA

Speaker: Sara Ellefsen, MBA, CFP®, Golden Gate Personal Financial Planning, LLC

Program Description:
Financial planning for same sex couples has always presented a complicated set of issues.  Now, in the aftermath of two landmark Supreme Court decisions, advisors face a new and still-shifting legal and tax landscape.  The Defense of Marriage Act has been struck down, leaving many gay couples to live with a patchwork of state laws.  Proposition 8 is no more, so how do we advise our couples who live in California?  How "married" is married, and what does the IRS say about it?  Join this session to discuss what the new rulings mean for your clients.
