JPC Weekly Email Blast: Take a look at what's happening at Jamestown Presbyterian Church!  Come out and join the excitement...

Upcoming Events:

iMPACT

April 17-May 8

Each time you go to the JPC website or look in the bulletin or maybe from the pulpit you hear the mission statement to invite, equip, and reach our world for Jesus Christ.  As we enter into a new phase of ministry at JPC we can all use a brush-up on what does it mean to invite people to come to know Christ or to invite people to come to know JPC.  Over the next four weeks we will be using a variety of tools to explore fishing for people.  Biblical foundations as well as hands-on approaches that we can all use to invite people to know Christ and to know us.

Dinner menu for Wednesday, April 17th: Fried chicken, mac & cheese, baked apples, salad, roll, and dessert.  Please call the church office to make your dinner reservation.

Leisure Fellowship

Thursday, April 18

Leisure Fellowship will meet at noon Thursday, April 18 for a covered dish luncheon in the CLC, followed by an interesting program with a speaker from Guilford County's Extension Master Gardener program titled

Containers for Curb Appeal.  Even though flowerpots make for an excellent display of pansies, petunias, or other colorful annuals, they can also be perfect for unusual plants or interesting combinations to provide curb appeal for your home.  The speaker will discuss how container hardy perennials, shrubs, and even small trees can be used to add year-round visual focus to your home's entrance.

Please mark your calendars and join us for a delicious lunch, great fellowship, and an interesting program.  As always, you do not have to be retired to join us.  We hope to see you there.

Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out welcomes all women, aged 13 and up, to a Self-Defense Class on April 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the CLC at JPC.  The instructor is Stephen Boggs, who has 10 years experience in Martial Arts, and he taught our group last February.  The girls and ladies who attended this group left feeling empowered with many specific defense techniques.  This is a perfect class for all levels and is very interactive, so wear comfortable clothes.  Cost is just $5.00.  Hope to see you there!  RSVP to Angelin Ham at aham@walman.com.

Hamil-Kerr Challenge

Saturday, April 20

Hamil-Kerr Challenge - Bike/Run/Walk

The Hamil-Kerr Challenge Bike/Run/Walk will be held this Saturday, April 20, at Jamestown Presbyterian Church. This event, which was formally the John "Bulldog" Hamil Walk and Bike Ride for Parkinson's Research, was started by our own Carol Kerr in 2006. Because Carol was ultimately diagnosed with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), donations for the event will go towards research for Parkinson's Disease and PSP.

Please join us for the event. There will be several route options this year beginning a JPC: For walkers and runners, there will be a 5K; for bikers, there will be a 50-mile ride to Caraway Mountain or a shorter 25-mile ride through Grandover Parkway; and, there will be a Biathlon with a 25-mile bike ride and a 5K run.

Registration for the walk and bike ride will begin at 7:30 AM. The riders will begin at 8:30 and the walkers beginning at 9:00 AM. Water stops are available at several spots along the walk and bike routes. Walkers, riders, runners, and strollers are welcome to participate. A free cookout will be provided by the men of the church after the event.

Please join us for a healthy way to raise funds for Parkinson's Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy to honor our dear friends: John Hamil and Carol Kerr. For more information, contact Mike Pendleton (mpendleton2@triad.rr.com).
