     Board Election Results

Following the elections at the annual member meeting in November, Ben McElrath (Marglen) will represent the reclaimer sector on the NAPCOR Board. Greg Schmidt (BP) and Michael Westerfield (Dart Container) will continue to serve representing supplier and thermoformer members, respectively. In addition, the Board recently appointed Dan Kuehn (Plastic Ingenuity) to replace Glen Armstrong, who retired from Polar Pak at the end of 2015. Glen was a part of NAPCOR since 2009 and we will miss his wit and wisdom. Thanks to Glen for his good service to NAPCOR and the Board, and a warm welcome to new members Ben and Dan.

    Member Meeting Satisfaction

Thank you to all who provided feedback on the member meeting in November.  We are pleased to report that 80% of survey respondents rated the meeting as excellent! Be sure to mark your calendar for April 20-21 in Chicago, because we will be using your suggestions to make the next meeting even better.

    New Members / Member Updates

We welcomed new member PetStar in our December newsletter, and are pleased to add QRS Recycling (St. Louis, MO) to our membership, also effective this month. And, you won't see Buhler on our member roster in 2016; instead you'll see Polymetrix, a former Buhler Group company.

    Plastics Recycling 2016

If you'll be in New Orleans from February 1-3, come see us at booth 506. To promote our members in the hall and help you find your NAPCOR colleagues, staff will distribute "NAPCOR member" signs to our members also exhibiting at the show. Our booth signage will include all exhibitor members' names and booth numbers.

    Manufacturers' Challenge Workshop

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) hosted a Manufacturers' Challenge workshop on January 5. The state's objective was to understand what product manufacturers and brand owners are willing to do on a voluntary basis to help California reach its statewide goal of 75% source reduction, recycling, and composting by 2020, as well as its goal of a 50% reduction in packaging disposed of in California landfills. No definitive pathways toward these goals were put forward and another session will likely be held this spring. The agenda and presentations are provided on the CalRecycle web site
