    ASTM Update

At our recent meeting we reported that NAPCOR is moving forward with ASTM process on Resin Identification Code (RIC) for PET. Dave Cornell has provided a draft for review. If you have input or comments on the draft, please submit to Chris Bradley by August 31. Chris will integrate comments and present to the NAPCOR Board for review. The Board will then provide a PET RIC recommendation prior to the next ASTM meeting in Tampa, FL in November. If you are a voting member (or become one at astm.org) and can attend ASTM meetings (11/15-17), we urge you to do so since D20.96 meetings will include a hand vote on negatives pertaining to the landfill degradability Guide. Please contact Kate if you join ASTM, to authorize your vote proxy if you can't attend the meetings in November, or with other questions.

    New website additions

The RFP for the Sustainable Packaging Coalition's multi-material recycling access study was issued in July and is posted on the Members Only website. (See first line item under NAPCOR Member Only Reports and Documents on Member Reports page.) Responses are due in August and the project is expected to proceed once a contractor is selected.

In addition, a new subcommittee webpage for the Non-Clear PET Working Group has been added to the Members Only section of the website under the Committees menu. Summary documents including meeting notes and slides as well as any relevant reports or technical information will be posted here. In particular, please note that on this page a draft workplan has been posted and any input on this should be sent to Resa

Board nominations for elections in November

In November, NAPCOR membership will elect three board members in the following member categories: reclaimer, supplier and thermoformer. Anyone who is interested in nominating either themselves or a colleague should submit nominations to Byron Geiger or Charlie Schwarze, the Board's nominating committee. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the November NAPCOR meeting. Board terms are three years and there are no term limits. More detail on the voting process will be provided prior to the November meetings.
