The following students received individual medals in their subject areas.

Summer School Registration

Summer School registration forms are due on Friday, April 25. All forms submitted after the deadline will be filled on a space available basis. Please contact Mr. Blakemore at 573-696-5512 Ext. 322 or bblakemo@hallsville.org if you have any questions.

Mizzou Sports Physical Day

The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute will offer sports physicals on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The cost is $10, which will be donated back to the school! Please fill out a physical form prior to arrival. Blank physical forms may also be picked up from Mrs. Frevert's office or the school offices. The address of the institute is 1100 Virginia Ave., Columbia, MO 65201.

All middle and high school athletes whose physicals are expiring at the end of May this year are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and get their sports physical taken care of. Cheerleaders also need to have a new physical before summer camps start. Any physical performed after February 1, 2014 will be valid for the new school year through May 31, 2015. Thus, physicals from Mizzou Sports Physical Day will be good for next school year's activities. See additional information on Sports Physical Day at the MU Health Care website.

Technology Plan

The Hallsville School District wants to hear your feedback on our draft Technology Plan. The final Technology Plan will be approved by the Board of Education in 2014 and used by administration, faculty and staff as we continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students.  You may review the draft document and submit your suggestions online. We appreciate your feedback and will keep you posted as the technology plan is finalized.

PTO Safety Night

PTO is sponsoring a safety night on Monday, April 28 from 6-8 p.m. It is excited that Andy Anderson of the Boone County Sheriff's Department will speak to students (4th grade and above) about cyberbullying and sexting. He is an excellent speaker and has lots of information to share. For the younger kids, there will be three stations for them to go through - bike obstacle course, internet safety and stranger danger. A light supper will be provided at 6 p.m. and the safety portion will start at 6:30 p.m.

PTO Meal Stack Fundraiser

PTO is pleased to announce that, as a continuation of the Passport coupon book sold in the fall, the Meal Stack is now available. This is a "deck of cards" that have $10 off at 50 local restaurants. Please go to midmo.com to check it out and order. Be sure and pick Hallsville PTO for the organization to support. Thank you!

We have screened approximately 80 kindergartners for 2014-15 and hope to hear from more before this school year ends. Please continue to remind friends and relatives to contact the school if they have children to enroll for kindergarten in the fall.

Last week, first graders completed the OLSAT, a standardized test that assesses academic ability levels. The results of these tests are one of many factors we use in determining academic achievement.

Tonight at 6 p.m., our Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program is hosting a session on infant massage. Tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m., PAT is hosting an event to welcome 2014-15 kindergarten parents. During the session, teachers hope to answer questions about this important year of school. If you have an incoming kindergartner, we hope you can make it!

Our Talent Show last Friday was hugely successful! Thanks to all the courageous students who showcased their singing, dancing, comedy and athletic skills with us! There was even a surprise Flash Mob of teachers dancing to Happy at the end of the show!

This week, students who will be taking the MAP test in the upcoming weeks will meet with Mrs. Fick to discuss positive test taking strategies and have some inspiration. Be looking for a note to come home this week about the upcoming dates for the test and strategies to try at home to inspire and motivate!

Wednesday is Secretaries Day! Take a moment to let Diane know how much she is appreciated!
