Snow Make-up Days
As a reminder, school will be in session on Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 as well as May 9 and 27-30. Students and staff will follow the regular school day schedule. May 30 will be the last day for students and an early dismissal at 12:30 p.m.

Technology Plan

The Hallsville School District wants to hear your feedback on our draft Technology Plan. The final Technology Plan will be approved by the Board of Education in 2014 and used by administration, faculty and staff as we continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students. You may review the draft document and submit your suggestions online. We appreciate your feedback and will keep you posted as the technology plan is finalized.

Pride in Our Special Olympians
Good weather, good company and good competition all met on Saturday, April 12 for the Central Area Spring Games at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. Our Hallsville Special Olympians contributed their share to the good company and competition and brought home lots of evidence to back it up. Congratulations to all of Our Special Olympic athletes!
Tim Denson - 25m Motorized Wheelchair Obstacle Course (gold), 50m Motorized Wheelchair Slalom (gold) and Softball Throw (gold)
Angie Irwin - 100m Run (gold), Tennis Ball Throw (gold) and 400m Walk (4th place ribbon)
Lukas Shelley - Long Jump (gold), Mini Javelin (gold) and 4x100 Relay (gold)
Shelby Smith - Long Jump (gold), Shot Put (gold) and 4x100 Relay (gold)
Austin Sobba - Softball Throw (gold), Long Jump (gold) and 4x100 Relay (gold)
And thanks to Morgan Williams for filling in at the last minute on the 4x100 Relay.

HHS Wins Quiz Bowl District Competition

On Saturday, April 12, Hallsville hosted the 2014 MSHSAA Class 3 District 7 Scholar Bowl Tournament. There were five teams entered for Class 3 District 7: Centralia, Hallsville, Moberly, Montgomery County and Southern Boone County.
After the preliminary rounds, Moberly was eliminated from contention and Hallsville received the No. 1 seed for the play-offs followed by Centralia, Montgomery County and Southern Boone. Hallsville and Montgomery County both advanced to the championship game where Hallsville won 570-210. For the third year in a row, Hallsville is the Class 3 District 7 Champion! They now advance to play Eldon in the sectional round on Wednesday, April 30.

Summer School Registration
Summer School registration forms are due on Friday, April 25. All forms submitted after the deadline will be filled on a space available basis. Please contact Mr. Blakemore at 573-696-2281 Ext. 322 or bblakemo@hallsville.org if you have any questions.

- Thursday, May 29 from 5-7 p.m. - Primary End-of-the-Year Celebration: Students, their parents and siblings are invited to attend our celebration on May 29. More details will be coming home in the next few weeks.

Last week we celebrated our volunteers with a ceremony and breakfast during Fab Friday for all they do for our students. Check out more pictures on facebook.
This week is a busy week for the Intermediate! The Art Show has begun and all students have two projects hung in the hallways. The Art Show is Tuesday evening, 5:45-7:15 p.m. Also on Tuesday, our fourth graders will have their Spring Concert at 6:30 p.m.
The Character Ambassadors will host an Easter Egg Hunt for the local daycares and preschools on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. We will conclude with a story and snack time. This will serve as their Spring Project.
Finally, on Friday we will have our School Talent Show from 8:30-10:30 a.m. We have nearly 25 acts of talent, comedy and music!

Blake McCarter is the winner of the principal for a day drawing.
The MS track team had a successful first home track meet last Thursday. A school record was broken and several students earned first-place standings. Congratulations to Marlene Kilpack, who crushed the pole vault record of 6 feet 6 inches. Marlene vaulted 7 feet 6 inches, earning the record and first place. She also received first place in the long jump. Avery Abell, Selena Allen, Natalie Faber and Raegan Hicks got the first-place win in the 400 meter relay. Malachi Jackson, Graham Moser and DQ Smith also took first place in the 400 meter relay. Malachi Jackson finished first in hurdles. Graham Moser placed first in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Philip Gladura claimed first place in both the discus and shot put. Trent Rowland also walked away victorious as he claimed first place in pole vault. Overall, the girls placed third and the boys won first place as a team! They will have another home track meet this Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Next week, we will have our all advanced trip to the movie and lunch on Wednesday the 23rd.

The third quarter "I Can" Columbia Area Career Center awards were honored recently at a breakfast ceremony at MU Alumni Center. Three Hallsville students were recognized for their classroom efforts, positive attitude and work ethic. Congratulations to Alex, Kendall and Tyler on their achievement and a big thank you to them for representing Hallsville High School so well.
