HHS Speech Team National Qualifiers

This weekend, members of the HHS speech & debate team competed to qualify for nationals at Pattonville High School. After nine rounds of competition, the team had a lot to celebrate! Tonia Bartlett qualified to nationals in Original Oratory, and Makayla Crouch and Madison Crouch qualified in Duo Interpretation. As a team, they were also awarded their full charter membership after only two years of competing as a part of the National Forensic League. This is achieved by having enough participating members who earn degrees for success throughout the year. And finally, because Hallsville had so many students make it to the final round, the team accumulated enough points to earn second place overall in speech events! It was awesome to have our small squad win over such large school programs as Pattonville, Parkway, Ladue/Clayton, Columbia, Jefferson City, etc.
This Friday and Saturday, the team will be competing at MSHSAA districts. On Thursday during parent/teacher conferences, the One-Act Play and Readers Theatre performers will be doing a dress rehearsal in the North Gym. The first show time will be at 4:00-4:30 p.m. and the second show time will be at 6:00- 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to stop by and check it out.

Student-Led Conferences
Thursday, March 13, 4-8 p.m.
Friday, March 14, 8-11:30 a.m.
Parents will pick up student portfolios in the cafeteria and sit down with their student. At that time, your son or daughter will present their portfolio to you. After taking a good look at the student work, you are then invited to meet with any of the teachers as needed. This is an opportunity for your student to showcase some of their work and the progress they have made this school year.

 Scott Daly, Principal
On Thursday, March 13 from 4- 8 p.m. and on Friday, March 14 from 8-11:30 a.m., we will be hosting parent/student/teacher conferences. We are inviting all parents to come and visit with your student's teachers and get a chance to see how they are doing. The teachers will be in their classrooms for students and parents to stop in at their convenience. Some parents may get phone calls this week from the teachers encouraging them to attend if the student is experiencing some difficulties in class this semester. We hope everyone gets an opportunity to stop by the high school during conferences this week.
