Get Ready for School
First Chance for Children and the Hallsville Parents As Teachers Program invite you to a discussion on "Your Child's Amazing Brain." It will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. in the Primary Media Center. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Weight Room Hours
The weight room is open for all athletes after school until 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. Coach Johnson and staff will be teaching the basics of a dynamic warm up, different core lifts as well as proper health and nutrition. The goal is to develop the complete athlete in a safe manner. All students in grades 7-12 are strongly encouraged to participate.

Hallsville R-IV Going Mobile
 Hallsville R-IV Schools is proud to announce the launch of the Hallsville R-IV app, an all-in-one information source for parents, students, staff and community. Our school district has partnered with ParentLink to develop this app to provide direct access to the district's most sought after information in the most convenient format -- your mobile device.
Recognizing trends in social technology and the unprecedented use of smartphones and tablet devices, Hallsville R-IV Schools has elected to become part of the mobile sphere to better connect and collaborate with the majority of our stakeholders.
App Features
- District and school news, allowing the user to select which schools and district news feeds they want to subscribe to
- Calendar information for schools and district events, including the ability to add events from school calendars to the user's device calendar
- Sports scores, schedules, and links to sports sites
- Push notifications for the district/schools to send out important alerts to the user's mobile device
- A message tool for users to provide the district with suggestions, security issues, comments and other important information
- Contact information for teachers, administrators and other staff
- School and district directories and maps
- Links to the School/District's Facebook, Twitter & YouTube Sites
- Superintendent updates with the latest communications from your district leaders

Our first graders are showing us how much they have learned during the first half of the school year as we complete mid-year benchmark testing. Thank you for helping them do their best by ensuring they have a good night's sleep during the week. Reading with your children each night will strengthen their skills and it will provide quality time for your family.
Mark your calendars for the First Grade Concert on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. Our first graders have been working hard on their music and are looking forward to their performance. It is sure to be a special evening!
Our Christmas parties will be on December 20 from 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Following the parties, school will be dismissed for our Christmas break.

Last week, we enjoyed a wonderful winter concert from our second grade students and Ms. Cash. The members of the Concert Choir are preparing for their annual Holiday Caroling event on December 18.
Next week is the last week of the second quarter. Report cards will be sent home after the holiday break. Holiday parties are on December 20 from 9-10 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. dismissal time.
Our Students of Second Quarter will be honored at a special luncheon with their teachers on December 19.

- 6th Grade Concert: December 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the North Gym
- 7th & 8th Grade Concert: December12 at 6:30 p.m. in the North Gym
- No School: December 23 through January 3
- Second Semester begins on January 6

The high school students will be participating in finals week December 17-19 with make-ups on Friday the 20th. In order to make sure all students have adequate time to complete their semester finals, we will use an alternative schedule those days. Please make sure your children study hard and finish out the first semester strong.
