HHS Athletic Events

Football Awards Ceremony

The 2013 football athletes will be honored on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria.

Wrestling 101 / Open Scrimmage

The HHS Wrestling team would like to invite you to an introduction to wrestling scrimmage. The scrimmage will take place on Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m. in the Primary Commons.   The Coaching staff will go over the basic rules and scoring while the team participates in scrimmage matches. Please stop by and support the team if you get the chance.

Veterans Appreciation Night

The Veterans Appreciation Night will be held on Tuesday, November 26 in Centralia during the HHS basketball game with Centralia High School. Group recognition of all veterans will take place during halftime of the varsity boys game. Please make plans to attend the game to honor our veterans and support our Indians! Veterans who wish to participate will be called to gather in the main hall a few minutes prior to halftime.

HHS Presents Shrek the Musical

The Hallville High School choir and drama class will be presenting the play, Shrek the Musical, on November 22 at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 24 at 2 p.m. in the North Gym. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens, students & children.

FREE Fluoride Treatment & Oral Screening

On December 16, the Department of Health will come to the Intermediate School and provide a FREE fluoride treatment to each student that has returned a signed permission form. The form was sent home last week. Please return it before Tuesday, November 26 if you wish for your child to participate. This is such a wonderful opportunity as so many students do not have the privilege of seeing a dentist regularly. The licensed dental professional will also do an oral screening along with the treatment. It is a two treatment process. December 16 is the first treatment. The next one will be this spring. If any issues are spotted, they will help the family take the necessary steps to get the care needed.

Primary School News
Karen Jimerson Karen Jimerson, Principal

During our professional day on Friday, teachers across the district worked on developing units of instruction that are designed with essential learning objectives as the focus. It was a good day of adult learning and we know this time spent evaluating our practices will make us better educators.

If you made a reservation to have lunch with us next week, we look forward to seeing you on Monday or Tuesday. School will not be in session Wednesday through Friday as we observe the Thanksgiving holiday. During our days away from school, I hope you will have opportunities to share a good book with your children. It is wonderful to see the progress our little ones are making and reading to someone is a treat for them!

The Thanksgiving Feast was a well-attended event. We had more than 200 extra guests enjoying lunch with us.

The DARE graduation for fifth grade will be on Monday, November 25. These students have been working closely with Officer Dietzel and their teachers, learning about how to make wise decisions and presented with difficult scenarios in life. The students will enjoy a morning of roller skating and an afternoon being honored for their efforts in learning about a drug-free way of life.

Mathew Rickard was our drawing winner last Thursday; he is the winner of a pizza party.

We will be having our character assembly on Wednesday the 20th during the eighth hour in the West Gym. We will be recognizing our students of the month at that time.

Four of our high school students were recognized for their hard work, determination and good character traits at the Columbia Area Career Center with the "I Can" award. Congratulations to Comfort Awosanmi (Professions in Healthcare), Katlin Proctor (Professions in Healthcare), Nicholas Putting (A+ IT Essentials) and Trenton Rice (Certified Welding) for receiving the first quarter awards. Students are selected for this honor by their instructor for exemplifying the career center expectations of attendance, respect, safety, quality, responsibility and team. Recipients and their guests were invited to a breakfast award ceremony on November 14 at Reynolds Alumni Center on the University of Missouri campus. These students do a great job of representing Hallsville High School.
