2014-15 District Calendar

The process for developing the District Calendar for the 2014-15 school year has started. The community has been invited to share the likes and dislikes of the 2013-14 Calendar to assist the administrators in the building of the new calendar. Input has been requested by Wednesday, November 13 for this round. The administration will then draft a calendar for the new school year and get input again before presenting it to the local Board of Education at the January 8, 2014 meeting. Contact Mr. George Rudisaile if you have opinions about the current and/or future calendar.

SGMWorldwide would like to thank the community for taking ornaments for the second annual Sole Tree Shoe Drive. However, there are still many shoes still needed for our district. If you are interested in an ornament or making a donation, please contact any counselor, secretary or Brittany Williamson. Thank you for making a difference!

Primary School News

At our Veterans Day Assembly, primary students and staff honored 26 veterans who are relatives of our children. We appreciated having them here to join us in our celebration of their service to our country. During the assembly, kindergartners gave a presentation, "What is a Veteran," and first graders sang "If You Love Your Country, Thank a Vet." The pledge of allegiance was led by Stanley Scott, a parent and veteran. Leigh Pemberton, with the help of six students, gave a visual description of the six branches of military service.

Please remember that school will not be in session on Friday, November 15 while teachers participate in a day of professional development. Also, please remember to return your Thanksgiving Lunch reservation sheet if you plan to have lunch with your child on November 25 or 26. We look forward to seeing you then!

The sophomores traveled to the Columbia Area Career Center on Wednesday to explore the different courses offered there so they can be ready to make their junior year class schedule soon. The class also went to the Food Bank as a community service project. They had a very successful day filling cereal servings. The first shift of students was able to produce 4165 servings and the second shift completed 4039. Thank you to the sophomores and their advisors for donating their time.

Remember we will have more intruder training this week and a drill to practice escaping safely.
