Veterans Day Events

Each year on Veterans Day, Hallsville Schools hosts events to honor and remember our area veterans.
This year, the Primary School would like to invite all family members of students and staff in the Primary building who are currently serving our country in the military to send an electronic greeting to the school. We would appreciate knowing the name, rank, military post location, number of years of service, and of course, the name of the Hallsville Primary student/staff to whom they are related. The greetings should be sent via email to jwang@hallsville.org and will be included in a presentation during our assembly.
All veterans are invited to attend our annual Primary School Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11 at 8:20 a.m. in the Primary Commons. The assembly for the Intermediate, Middle and High School will be at 9:30 a.m. in the West Gym. Please come and enjoy this special program!

Thanks for Your Support

We want to thank all the parents, grandparents and students who visited the book fairs in the buildings last week. It was great to see so many students excited about getting new books and reading. Every book purchased generates dollars for our school. Thanks for all of your support!
If you weren't able to make it to the book fairs at school, it's not too late to order through the online book fair. All merchandise will be shipped to the schools for pick up and all sales will earn rewards for our schools.

We had great attendance at parent-teacher conferences. Thanks to all the parents who made this meeting a priority. If you missed your conference for any reason, please contact your child's teacher to make another appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.
Our Halloween parade and party will be held from 12:30 - 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. Room parents who are bringing party supplies have been issued a pass by classroom teachers and will be admitted through the main entrance at 12:15 p.m. All other guests are asked to sign in and enter the building at the doors at the north end of the building near the commons. There will be one school lunch choice that day, which will be a ham and cheese sandwich, a fruit and a drink. Students may bring their lunches as always.

Thanks for your attendance at parent-teacher conferences. I'll have the specific numbers later this week in my newsletter or in next week's e-news.
Halloween parties are Thursday and I'm anxious to see the costumes! Please be sure to read the changes in our procedures for the parties included in Virtual Backpack and sent home last week. These are minor changes that will ensure students' safety while having fun!
Colder weather has arrived. Be sure to send jackets and hats for recess. Also, our lost and found has grown into a "monster"! Stop by the office and we'll show you to the lost and found area.

Parent/Student Conferences were a success at the high school. Changing from the portfolio style we normally have had in the fall had more parents and students visiting with teachers in their classrooms. Many of the teachers commented on how many quality conversations they were able to have with parents. Thanks for taking an active role in your student's education. If you were unable to come to conferences and need to speak to a teacher, please feel free to call them. They can set up an appointment during their conference/planning time to meet with you.
Red Ribbon week is this week and the high school students are going to be learning about distracted driving, bullying, dating violence and drug awareness. We have presenters and activities scheduled during the week for the students. This should make for some great at home conversations with the students each night.
