Character education is an important part of our day in the primary building. We use safety, respect, and responsibility as key words while making decisions about our conduct and interactions with others. The primary staff focuses on positive behavior, and it is our goal to help children see the value of good character and citizenship. Our first celebration of our "Shining Stars" was Friday morning. We will have monthly assemblies throughout the year for this purpose.

We kicked off the character word of the month by bringing back our Tomahawk Tokens! Our Tomahawk Tokens are special recognition given to students or adults in our school for demonstrating the character word. We also talked about "Good Pride" and "Bad Pride" or being boastful during Fab Friday. The kids are so brilliant and we were able to have a great discussion about demonstrating PRIDE!
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Parents Go Back to School Night on September 17, 5:30 - 7 p.m.!

Despite the fact that last week was shortened with the holiday, we had several tickets written for behavior above and beyond. With that being said, Kalese Jones was this week's winner of the VIP lunch pass. This pass allows her to go to the front of the lunch line for the month that she holds the pass.
Due to the expected weather conditions for our area. We will be changing our start time for some of the athletic events. The following is the summary of next week's events:
- Monday at 5 p.m - Middle School Softball at Westran .
- Tuesday at 6 p.m. - Middle School Football at Macon
- Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. - Middle School Softball vs. S. Boone
- Wednesday at 6 p.m. - School Board Meeting
- Thursday at 5 p.m. - Middle School Softball at Centralia
- Thursday at 6 p.m. - Middle School Volleyball vs. Versailles

All of the high school sports are off to a great start. Our athletes have put in a tremendous amount of work during the summer programs and in the weight room. Their efforts are paying off this season. Come out and support all of our teams as much as you can this season. The players and cheerleaders love having a huge crowd to perform for.
This week we are identifying the students who will need academic support next week. Teachers will be contacting parents this week for students who need some extra assistance. Then, starting on Tuesday, September 17, we will have tutoring sessions during our first lunch shift to work with those who are falling behind.
