 CSIP Information
The Hallsville R-IV School District is currently in the final stages of revising our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). The CSIP serves as the guiding document for our improvement efforts. The finished CSIP will be approved by the Board of Education and used by administration, faculty, and staff as we continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students.
We are eager to receive stakeholder feedback on our draft CSIP document. Comments on the last draft must be submitted on or before June 3, 2013. To review the draft CSIP and provide your feedback, please click here to visit the page on the Hallsville Public Schools web site. The CSIP comment period ends June 3, 2013. |

Athletes Sign / Walk-on Collegiate Sports
Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM, Hallsville High School will have a signing ceremony for six student athletes who will be signing letters of intent to play sports for colleges and universities. This brings the total to seven athletes signed this year to higher education institutions. Five young men will be signing for football, one young woman will be signing to play soccer. It is unique that we are signing a soccer player as we do not currently offer soccer as a school sport.
Athletic Director for Hallsville, Mr. Brad Blakemore stated, "These student athletes are a testimony to the educational and athletic facilities here at Hallsville. They have the academic and athletic skills to be successful at the collegiate level and we are excited to see how their futures develop. "
In the six year history of football at Hallsville, only one previous student signed with a collegiate team. On Wednesday, five of the six signing letters of intent are from the football program coached by Mr. Devin Johnson, who is in his first year as head football coach at Hallsville. Johnson is pleased with his athletes, "This is a testament to our Hallsville students and how talented they are. As senior athletes, they are incredibly dedicated to improvement and that was evident throughout the year. The foundation that they have set for this football program is monumental. These universities are getting not only good football players, but great young men. Our school and community should be extremely proud of these athletes."
The signing ceremony will take place in the lobby of the West Gym at Hallsville High School.

 Optimist- Buddy Back Pack Fundraiser
The Hallsville Optimist Club will be hosting the 2nd Annual Heritage Days 5K Run this year on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the North Entrance of Hallsville High School. This was a very successful fundraising event last year in support of the Hallsville Buddy Pack Program.
This is an event that the entire family can enjoy, and we invite you to participate with family and friends. Entry fees are $25 for the 5K, $15.00 for those 18 and under. In addition to our 5K Run/Walk, we have added a 1M Fun Run for kids for a $10 registration fee. Medals will be given to the top finishers in all age groups in the 5K, t-shirts to all early registrants, and participation ribbons for the Fun Run participants will be awarded. A free pancake breakfast is included in the admission fee.
The registration form and information about the Buddy Pack program can be found by clicking here. |
 Seniors and Computers
With graduation on Sunday, many families of seniors may consider the purchase of a new computer for their graduate. Several factors should be considered. Two of the most important are a computer with a fast processor and an adequate amount of RAM memory. These two things will better allow your computer to last longer. A "business class" computer is also a good idea as it will be more mobile and subject to daily "abuse" as students may take it back and forth to classes or study groups.
There are several websites available to help your decision. This link is just a basic review of different laptops and buying one for college. This link has some comparisons of different companies and products.
Above all, check with the University where you will be attending - they may have some special deals on laptops. Considering software, see if you need to have Microsoft Office. DON'T buy it at retail price. There are often student editions available through your college at substantial discounts. Remember, more RAM and faster processors are a good thing. If you can get it, a solid state hard drive is a great choice too (no moving parts). If you have questions, please feel free to contact Roger Brallier at 573-696-5512 Ext 329 or email.

 Summer Sports Camp Information
Registration is now open for our summer camps scheduled for Hallsville R-IV Schools. Click here for the packet. |
 Online Payments for Meals
You can now pay for your student's meals with online payments using a MasterCard or VISA in addition to our usual method of payment via check to your building secretary. There is a fee of $1.95 associated with the service at the time. The convenience fee is charged by the online vender and not the school. It will be added to your transaction before you check out.
You can add multiple people to your payment account and can designate certain amounts to the different people in your list. The fee is based on the transaction and NOT on each "split" of money.
You can still pay for school meals as you have in the past by sending payment in to your building secretary with your student. The online feature is merely an additional option added for convenience and we hope that you like it. We are using a company called, "My School Bucks." To try this service, click here, or see the link under "Parent Resources." |

As the school year winds down, we have several fun activities planned. Be sure to continue checking the Virtual Backpack for information on your child's grade level.
Hope for good weather! Beach Day is May 23rd. If you ordered a T-shirt, those have come in and will be delivered next Monday, May 20th. That day, the kids will be allowed to wear modest swim wear that should be covered by shorts and t-shirts or tank tops. Flip flops are allowed for Beach Day!
The awards ceremony will be held on our last day of school. If your child is receiving an award, you'll be hearing from the office soon. Finally, summer school confirmation letters will be mailed this week. There are still a few slots left if you have decided to send your child. Please contact Mrs. Fick for specific grade level and courses.

Graduation is this coming Sunday, May 19th at 2:00 PM in the West Gym. Parking WILL NOT be allowed on Ricketts and North Street. A shuttle bus will run continuously from 12:45 PM until the start of graduation from the parking lot of the Primary building to the gym. The shuttle bus will again run between the two locations after graduation.
It is our hope that many will take advantage of this parking lot to alleviate congestion around the high school.
