 CSIP Information
The Hallsville R-IV School District is currently in the final stages of revising our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). The CSIP serves as the guiding document for our improvement efforts. The finished CSIP will be approved by the Board of Education and used by administration, faculty, and staff as we continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students.
We are eager to receive stakeholder feedback on our draft CSIP document. Comments on the last draft must be submitted on or before June 3, 2013. To review the draft CSIP and provide your feedback, please click here to visit the page on the Hallsville Public Schools web site. The CSIP comment period ends June 3, 2013. |
 Online Payments for Meals
You can now pay for your student's meals with online payments using a MasterCard or VISA in addition to our usual method of payment via check to your building secretary. There is a fee of $1.95 associated with the service at the time. This convenience fee is charged by the online vender and not the school and will be added to your transaction before you check out.
You can add multiple people to your payment account and can designate certain amounts to the different people in your list. The fee is based on the transaction and NOT on each "split" of money.
You can still pay for school meals as you have in the past by sending payment in to your building secretary with your student. The online feature is merely an additional option added for convenience and we hope that you like it. We are using a company called, "My School Bucks." To try this service, click here, or see the link under "Parent Resources." |
 Boone County Bank Donates $500
Boone County National Bank believes in reading! So much so, that they help read in our kindergarten rooms all year long. As part of a partnership, representatives from Boone County Bank recently presented a check for $500 to the kindergarten teachers for the purchase of books for classrooms. The teachers purchase leveled reading books or big book sets each year with the money. A special THANK YOU to Boone County National Bank for their support of our readers. |

On Tuesday, May 7, the Parents as Teachers educator, Karen Smith, will have big trucks on the primany parking lot from 6 - 8 p.m. for all to enjoy. Everyone is invited to come get an up-close look at some of the most interesting vehicles on the road! Our first grade Pizza in the Park will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. It was originally scheduled for last Friday, but poor weather conditions caused us to reschedule. If you made a reservation and sent money for your lunch, we hope you can join your first grader on Wednesday. Please plan to join us for the Primary Celebration on Tuesday, May 21 from 5-7 p.m. Students and their families will be served a hot dog dinner, compliments of the Hallsville PTO, and the primary staff will have lots of fun activities to share! We hope to see you there! First graders took the OLSAT assessment last week, and end-of-the-year literacy evaluations have been completed by all kindergartners and first graders. The teachers will use this data to review progress for the year and to prepare for 2013-14. Thank you for sending your children to school well rested and ready to do their best! Some dates to remember:
May 7 - PAT Big Truck Night May 8 - 1st Grade Pizza in the Park - 11:30 AM
May 10 - No School
May 16 - Primary Fun Run
May 21 - Primary Celebration (5-7 p.m.)
May 24 - Last day of school

With three weeks left of school, We are very excited for the end of the year events. Each grade has many special activities planned, sure to create some lasting memories to end the year. Please take a moment to send your child's teacher a note of thanks as we celebrate and honor the teachers of our great school next week. Their enduring dedication to kids amazes me each and every day.
What a fun assembly last week to kick off MAP testing. Our theme this year is "We've got the magic in us!" For each day that kids are in attendance , giving their best effort, they earn a ticket. At the end of testing ,we will draw from all the tickets to award 8 kids per grade level a VIP pass to our upcoming Magic & Ventriloquist show on May 20th. These VIPs will have front row seats, popcorn, drinks, a chance at being an assistant and a personal meet and greet with the magician.

MAP testing begins this week. Please make sure your student is well rested, on time, and eats breakfast each day to help them be ready for this important event. Also, following the 8th Grade Recognition, there will be a dance for all 8th grade students. It will take place in the Intermediate commons. There will be food, drinks and a DJ, this is a FREE event. It will end at 10:30 pm.

It's hard to believe it is the last month of the school year. It is vital that the students finish the year off strong and not take a nose dive at this point. I would like to address a couple of things. First, there is no such thing as "Senior Skip Day." If your student comes home and tells you about an event or something that just doesn't seem right, please call us at the High School. We have a senior day scheduled for May 16th which will be an in-school activity. The temperatures are beginning (depending on the day) to get nicer. This often triggers issues with the dress code policy, especially when it comes to the length of shorts. Please help us in this by going over the dress code policy with your student. The last thing we want to do is to have issues with the dress of our students. Our building is air conditioned so students should not be too hot. Please click here for our student handbook and note the dress code policy as outlined on pages 22 and 23. If a student's dress is a distraction, we will ask them to change clothes. If they refuse, they may be subject to disciplinary action.
