Friday, February 15th, area schools met in Westran to compete in the Future Business Leaders of America district competition. Twenty schools were represented, ranging from small schools to large schools and career/technical training centers. Our Hallsville students took online tests before the competition date and then some performed in speaking events in front of judges on Friday.
Hailey Ketchum earned the top Future Business Leader honor this year and marks the second year in a row Hallsville won districts in the most prestigious event. Zach Bequette won last year and finished in 6th place in the entire state of Missouri as Mr. FBLA. This year, the Mr. and Ms. FBLA categories were merged into the FBLA Leader, and the Hallsville chapter again came out on top in our district. This accomplishment is a tribute to the young leaders Hallsville R-IV Schools are producing.
We are proud to announce that Hallsville took 3rd place overall and we are sending the largest group onto the state level competition in the past decade. The top two in online tests and only the top one in performance events are allowed to advance to the next level, but all of the participants contributed to our great team score.
