CSIP Committee Openings

The Hallsville R-IV School District is currently in the process of revising our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). The CSIP serves as the guiding document for our district improvement efforts. We are currently searching for stakeholders to serve on our CSIP review committee. This committee will review our draft CSIP documents and provide detailed input on how the plans can be improved. Parents, older students, teachers, staff, and community members are all encouraged to submit an interest form.

To learn more about serving on the review committee, please click here.

Inclement  Weather Planning

Even though the weekend saw spring-like weather, we are approaching winter months and winter weather conditions are likely to occur from time to time.  There are numerous ways parents can find out whether or not Hallsville R-IV Schools will be in session:

(will be sent via email on that day)

Local television/radio stations
                           Schoolreach telephone alert system

In the event of an early dismissal due to weather, parents should instruct children what to do, whom to contact, and where to go if school is dismissed early.

Receiving all state recognition is a huge accomplishment.  There are 64 teams in class 2 and there were 33 LB's across the state that received nominations.  Kaleb being voted on by other coaches around the state of Missouri as being one of the top LB's in the state shows the impression that he made on the field.

Thank you all for the support this past year.  It takes a great school and community to support the strong academic and athletic programs that we have here at Hallsville.  I have been blessed to work with such great peers and kids this year and look forward to continuing to help develop our student athletes.

This week at Hallsville Primary, our teachers will begin our mid-year benchmark testing. These one-on-one assessments give us a comprehensive evaluation of each student's progress in literacy skills. It is always exciting to see how much the children have learned in these first four months of the school year! Please continue to practice letters, letters sounds, spelling words, and writing with your children at home. Enjoying a good book with a child is not only a great way to spend some time together but also builds vocabulary and a love for reading.

Tuesday night is our 2nd grade winter concert in the commons area.  Click here for a promotional video.

Fourth graders are having their annual Jingle Bell Shop (JBS). The JBS provides a hands-on learning opportunity for fourth graders during their economics unit. Counting money and making change is reinforced, as well as social skills and other important character traits like honesty and compassion. The Jingle Bell Shop provides a chance for kids to make inexpensive holiday purchases for family members. We have added more variety for kids who may not be able to bring more than a bit of change.
This event has been a tradition in our school for 18 years! The shop dates are December 7-13th, with a special Saturday open to the public on December 8th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The students also incorporate a persuasive writing activity during the JBS to persuade customers to come visit and shop. For more information, you can view the flyer here.  Watch a promo video made by one group of students on our YouTube channel here.
