November Character Education Word:

The holiday season is quickly approaching. With the rush of things demanding our time and attention during the holidays, it is easy to overlook things in our lives that we value. During this month, initiate conversations with your child about specific things and ways for which they can show gratitude. It is good reminder for all of us.

Accredited with Distinction
By: John Robertson, Superintendent

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has designated the Hallsville R-IV School District fully Accredited with Distinction in Performance. The coveted "Distinction in Performance" moniker, the highest level awarded by the state, indicates that the district demonstrates high academic achievement. To qualify for recognition, a K-12 district must meet at least 13 of 14 performance indicators in areas such as state testing, attendance rates, graduation rates, average ACT scores, etc. Hallsville has earned a perfect score of 14 points in six of the last seven years, and earned a 13 in 2007.

Knowledge of microscopes was the focus of this lesson, including proper use, care, and the use of slides. This skill will be sharpened as students use the equipment in other labs throughout the year and in other advanced Biology and Anatomy classes.
