Welcome to the start of another great year here at Cedar Ridge. 2014 is going to be a wonderful year for so many different good reasons. We have been working hard to help our students finish the first semester on a positive note. With the Holidays behind us we can continue our focus on student achievement.
Getting back into a regular routine is key for everyone to find success. With so many activities surrounding this time of year I encourage you to help your Cedar Ridge students get the much needed rest that they require. Coming to school on time and being prepared for every class is a sure way to find that success. ParentVue is another good tool to help you stay on top of student work and help your child stay organized. If you do not have access to the web-based parent support program please contact us here in the office to help you get set up. Staying up to date on grades and supporting your student can be a wonderful growing experience for all involved. Like wise staying up on our current events by getting message updates from our website can be just as beneficial. Please sign up for website updates by Clicking here!
We have so many ways to get involved. Come be apart of the Cedar Ridge community, the best kept secret in Sandy. It is a wonderful place to grow as a student, staff, and Principal.
Happy New Year, and best wishes!

7-Eleven Gives Back Big
Local business gives $500 through Project A-Game
The local 7-Eleven gave a generous donation of $500 through a program meant to focus on youth education and giving back to it's local community. Thanks to this local business support Cedar Ridge will be able to fund a number of different programs including our Project Lead the Way (engineering program), our Positive Behavior Support Program, and our Math Reward Program. Beyond the $500 7-Eleven will be donating over 200 slurpy coupons as well. They look forward to serving and donating more to Cedar Ridge in the near future. We cannot thank them enough for this donation. |

2014-15 Variance Requests
The Oregon Trail School District considers requests for students to transfer to other schools within our district. Although most of these requests are granted, some are not, due to inadequate space, resources, and other circumstances. It is important to remember that: - The district will try to honor your request if possible.
- Variances are granted for one year only. All parents must reapply for variances each year.
- Parents provide home-to-school and school-to-home transportation.
- Each school has unique educational features.
We ask that parents requesting a variance from their neighborhood school attendance area for any reason submit a variance form to their neighborhood/sending school by March 1st. The variance requests will be reviewed and decisions communicated to parents by the first week in May. Copies of the variance form can be found on our district web page, are available at school offices, or on our district web page (www.oregontrailschools.com). |

Construction Near Completion
New Entry Protocols for a Safer and Secure School
A New Year usually brgins with it some form of change. CRMS will be adjusting to how students, staff, and visitors enter the building. A better and more secure entry point to our school makes for a good adjustment. Soon the protocol for entering the building will change as well. Currently you may enter the front door, but visitors will need to stop at the new front window to check-in. Once the complete secure system is in place we will be sharing a more detailed entry point protocol. In the meantime we look forward to seeing you and keeping our students as safe and secure as possible.

Gladiator Assembly
The Friday before the holiday break was a big day for all of the Cedar Ridge Gladiators and their homerooms. In continuing with the spirit of Cedar Ridge those students who behaved well for the month of December enjoyed a loud and exciting game of Gladiators. It didn't really matter if you cheered on your favorite team or you participated in the events, you had a blast. Congratulations to Mrs. Nixon's homeroom for taking home the Gladiator Spirit Trophy. 2nd place was Mr. Kanable's homeroom and and 3rd place went to Mr. Lane's homeroom. It was a great way to kick of the 2 week break and to enjoy some excitement. |
