Happy New Year!
top
Thank you to everyone who came to our Holiday Recital on 12/22. It was a wonderful evening of music and community, with almost 50 students performing between the two sessions. Click here to view some photos from that night.

Now that 2013 is underway, we wanted to fill you in on a few new things this year:
We're looking forward to continuing our growth and offering even more musical opportunities for our students in 2013!

Fondly,

Bring-a-Friend Week: Jan 21-26

Our first "Bring-a-Friend Week" in October was so much fun that we're hosting it again!

The week of January 21st, students may bring a friend to observe their lesson.

Participating students will also be entered in a raffle for a chance to win one month's free tuition!

Student Open Mic Night: Friday, Feb. 1st
openmic

An open mic is typically an event at a coffeehouse or bar where anyone is welcome to sign up and perform. We will be holding our first of many open mic nights here at the school on Friday, February 1st at 7 pm (additional session at 6 pm if needed).

Students will have the chance to perform in a casual environment. They can play their favorite classical, pop or rock piece, perform their own composition, or even collaborate with a friend or family member. This event is all about becoming more comfortable as a performer, so be creative and have some fun!

To participate, RSVP by email by Friday, 1/25. Please be sure to indicate how many total people are attending.

"Play-a-Story": Piano for Ages 4-6
PAS

A brand new offering from the Simply Music organization, Play-a-Story provides an age-appropriate, creative outlet for children's innate musicality while developing basic piano fundamentals.
Students literally create their own musical soundtrack to a specially created storybook & DVD. They learn varying musical sounds, motifs, styles, shapes and dynamics, creating a comprehensive, improvisational vocabulary.

Play-a-Story is the perfect compliment to our early childhood program, Simply Music Rhapsody, and a helpful bridge to more formalized piano instruction.

Classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays starting  mid-February. Reserve your spot now!

The Quick Center at Fairfield University

From the Quick Center's website:

"One of Connecticut's favorite ensembles presents a collage concert made up of unexpected partner songs which plays at the boundaries between classical and popular and sacred and secular music. ... Angels and Demons is an innovative and daring blend of sacred and secular, art music and popular/Broadway music. Let yourself be transformed, totally embraced in the comforting wings of the angels; or, if you prefer, walk on the wild side and transport yourselves to the supernatural and malevolent domain of those beings who possess living creatures."
