Greetings!

As we enter October, the school year is well underway with over 80 enrolled students taking private and group lessons. Our Grand Opening celebration on September 8th was a great success, and now we are busy gearing up for some exciting new offerings.

Read below for info on upcoming events and new programs at the school including Bring-a-Friend WeekRock Band, and our first annual Halloween Howl & food drive.

Additionally, we've included some great opportunities to see or perform music in the community this month, including legendary violinist Mark O'Connor, a festive Halloween concert, and a local kids open mic night

Enjoy!

Upcoming Events & Programs at FSM

BaFWeekBring-a-Friend Week (Oct. 15-20):

Music is always more fun when shared. During the week of October 15th, students may bring a friend (or friends) to observe their lessons. Teachers will distribute invitations next week that students can give to their friends. Friends that attend will receive a free FSM tote bag.

As an added bonus, students will receive one raffle entry per friend they bring for a chance to win a brand new, 7th generation iPod Nano in a color of their choice!

RockBandRock Band! (Starting Oct. 20):

Our brand new rock band program is almost ready to go live! Stay tuned for an official announcement with all the details.

In the meantime, feel free to contact us if you have a child who may be interested in participating, as space is limited.

Note: students must have basic playing proficiency, usually a minimum of one year of lessons, to be eligible for this program.

HalloweenHowl"Halloween Howl" (Friday, Oct. 26):

Our first performance event of the year should prove to be a howling good time!

Students will have the opportunity to perform a spooky-sounding piece for their peers. To add to the fun, they may wear their Halloween costumes (as long as they don't inhibit their range of motion to perform). After the performance, each student will receive a special Halloween goody bag to take home.

This event is designed to be a fun, low-pressure opportunity to perform for their peers in an informal setting. As such, only students may attend, however parents and other guests will have the opportunity to attend subsequent recitals.

Also, to help our neighbors in need, we will be holding a food drive at the event. We are asking each child to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.

The Halloween Howl will take place on Friday, Oct. 26th from 6:30-7:30 pm. An additional session will be held that day from 5:00-6:00 pm, if there are too many students to accommodate in one session.

If your child would like to attend, please RSVP by Friday, October 12th to info@fairfieldschoolofmusic.org with "Halloween Howl" in the subject line. If you have a time preference, please indicate either the 5:00 or 6:30 session in your email.
