President's Message
Feeling Hot Hot Hot!
For me the summer is a balancing act of working at the business of design and enjoying the outdoors with vacations, bike riding and going to the park. Recently, I succumbed to the sunny day and joined some of my design friends for a tie dying party. Tying up the garments with rubber bands and dunking them into the indigo dye made me feel like a kid. When I got home that night, I couldn't wait to unwrap my creations to see the pattern and that beautiful dark saturated indigo dye color. It hit me then how important regenerating my creative spirit is to my design business. Like that balancing act between work and play so is the balancing act between the creative and business mind of any design business.
ASID Ohio North Chapter is kicking up the heat this September with a variety of events to feed your creative and business mind and spirit.
Looking for something to feed your creative spirit? ASID Ohio North Chapter Art Wine + Design event may be the perfect outlet to showcase your creative talents. This event on September 18th partners ASID Ohio North Chapter, 78th Street Studios and House Trends magazine. The collaborative event will highlight design talents of local artists from 78th Street Studios and designers from Ohio North chapter. Industry partners will have a chance also to feature their products and services. Open to the public, this event is an ideal way to showcase your design skills and market to potential residential clients in Cleveland. Our publishing partner House Trends will help with the marketing efforts. Don't wait if you want to join in the fun, only a couple of spaces remain for this event. Contact Laura Gills, ASID, Art Wine + Design Chair, at 440.255.4935 for additional information.
ASID Ohio North Chapter will also host our Annual Meeting this year at the 78th Street Studios on September 17th, showcasing the exhibitors of the Art Wine Design event and inducting our new board members into ASID Ohio North Chapter for the upcoming year. The event will begin in a private gallery of Rob Hartshorn's where he will discuss the partnerships with artists and designers. Then we will proceed upstairs to enjoy the design and art vignettes of Art Wine and Design. We will be reviewing the year's events and toasting to the inductees of our new board members. Don't miss out on the fun of reconnecting with your design colleges, industry partners and getting inspired by the design vignettes.
Lastly, August and September are heating up with CEU events helping to satisfy your 10 hours of educational requirements for membership. Our professional organization ASID's mission is to elevate our profession. One way ASID does this is through the requirement of CEU's that our professional, allied and associate members need to accomplish. This year marks a record keeping year for ASID national of continuing education credits by December 31st. Within the next several months, take advantage of the CEU events taking place through ASID, IIDA, and industry partners. For CEU opportunities, check the ASID Ohio North Facebook page, the chapter's website, and visit ASID national for online learning.
