President's Message

One Voice, Roach Motel, Impact of Interior Design

Let's celebrate! With a common goal of joining the design professionals of all disciplines in a collective whole and "one voice", ASID celebrates its 40th anniversary. During last month's president's forum in Phoenix, Arizona, I had the opportunity to clearly understand the mission and future of ASID as well as exchanging ideas about chapter business with the other volunteers at the conference. The sunshine in Arizona was a welcome change from the cold weather in Cleveland and the venue was inviting and luxurious. My mind was swimming with ideas and inspiration.

Over the years, ASID's mission has been to elevate the profession of interior design. Through collaboration, design research and educational programming, ASID has grown as a nationally recognized organization I am proud to be a member and volunteer of. As we celebrate our 40th year, the message is clear, design professionals and the spaces they design effect the wellness and well being of the inhabitance. On a national level, our "one voice" is projecting loud and clear... design matters. Because of your support, ASID's message is heard by all industries and professions nationwide. It's this initiative that elevates our profession and ultimately drives business.

As the conference closed and the goodbyes were exchanged among new friends, my adventure began as I traveled home to Cleveland. Because of weather delays, I was stuck for 12 hours in the Phoenix airport. I studied the surroundings searching for a comfortable spot to chill. A complimentary room at a nearby "quality" motel was an eye-opener about the comforts of home. Tired and hungry, I bunkered down for the night with the lights on and my pants tuck in my socks. I closed my eyes and imagined I was back at the luxurious conference hotel. Like a slap in the face, I realized the power of "one voice" and the impact of interior design. Whatever area of design inspires you, I hope you will join me in celebrating ASID's successful past and ambitious future. Scream it loud and proud...Design Matters.

2015 is the Year of CEU Compliance

To encourage early compliance, ASID has launched the CEU Race!  The chapter with the highest percentage of members who complete their 1.0 CEU credits (10 credit hours) by November 1, 2015 will be awarded an education grant to host a local CEU-approved event!

What is IDCEC?  The Interior Design Continuing Education Council is an online database to warehouse CEU-approved events and keep track of the credits YOU earn.

Why Does ASID Use IDCEC?  ASID has been a long-time partner of IDCEC, and utilizes their reporting system to track all CEU credits earned for all ASID members.

What Steps Do I Need to Take?  Every ASID member has a unique, 10 digit number to login into the IDCEC website (your IDCEC number is different than your ASID number).  When attending IDCEC approved seminars, provide your IDCEC number to the continuing education provider.

Visit idcec.org to login today and track your CEU credits!
