President's Message
Dear Member:
As you are aware, there are many career advantages to joining a professional association. You can build relationships that can lead to new opportunities for collaboration and business; take advantage of educational opportunities; build leadership skills and increase your professional visibility.
We invite you to continue your career advancement by participating in the Chapter's newest trade show "Business of Design" on Thursday, April 4, 2013. After analyzing members survey responses during the last couple of years, our board decided to experiment with a new concept for our tradeshow (formerly Sourcery). Many members expressed their wish for "something new/different". We put together a committee to re-evaluate "Sourcery", after some research, a few meetings, and conversations with Industry Partners, exhibitors, and professional members; the committee has developed a day of events based on the "Business of Design".
The trade show will feature several vendors demonstrating spectacular new products. Look for new faces on the floor this year! The morning session will feature CEU speaker, Terri Maurer, FASID, discussing the value of developing and using a personal brand in your marketing and sales arena. The afternoon educational program will discuss Social Media - as a powerful tool to help you manage and grow your business. The program will be led by Geof Pelaia of Pelaia Media Group, a marketing agency providing content marketing strategies for businesses.
Invitations have gone out! You can still register online.
Note that pre-registration is required for the CEU and the educational program.
I would like to extend my thanks to the following: Ann Lahiff, Allied ASID, and her committee for organizing the tradeshow; to our vendors and IP members who so generously support the tradeshow and all our events; to the ASID Ohio North Board; and all the volunteers who helped organizing this enormous but worthwhile task.
"Re-Green with Ohio North" was a huge success. Thanks so much to all who volunteered and dedicated their valuable time to advance the education of interior design students. Thanks to the folks at Summit Metroparks for the tour of their LEED Platinum building and a huge thanks to the expert panelists who did a great job informing the audience about LEED, sustainability practices and encouraging students to stay connected with the new practices of "green" design: Kim Whittington Babcock, LEED AP ID+ C; Valerie Molinski, LEED AP BD+ C; Susann Geithner, LEED AP O+M & BD+C, and Jillian Gerbasi, Allied ASID. Check out photos of the event on our Facebook page.
Best Regards,
Cristina McCarthy, MS, Allied ASID
